About Me

Having had a medical career in the NHS, I have experience of the complexities of life, dealing with sensitive topics, and the impact on people of illness, trauma and loss. I also know of the pressures of coping with demanding roles and high expectations. I am a culturally-aware counsellor, with a sensitivity for experiences of "otherness". This is informed by my lived experience of mixed racial and cultural heritage, and having worked with refugees and asylum seekers in various projects. I have training in Trauma Awareness for counselling, meaning that I understand how prior trauma can affect the counselling experience, and how to sensitively adapt my approach. I strongly support equality, diversity and inclusion in therapy. My approach is welcoming and non-judgmental.
